Hello!
Have you ever wondered what goes on inside the brains of those strange people known as authors? Specifically the “semicolon” authors? (Go here to find out what punctuation mark you are.) And even more specifically, those who haven’t sat down and organized things yet? Well, if you have, you are about to find out.
Yes, this was what my brain was like last Friday morning. Only more so . . .
[I was cleaning the house.]
Oh, yes, I should clean the fans. They are really dirty. I wonder if the Other M’s are going to be at the parade tomorrow. It would be such fun to have them. And we’d almost fill up the float with just them.
[Finish the fans and am dusting.]
I know I won’t be playing any of this music for church before Christmas, so I can just put it away. I forgot how nice my desk looks without something leaning against the wall all the time. Oh, my “Baby Doll” (a little friend) was so cute when she was a baby. I can’t wait to see the cover for TCR-6! I wonder if there are any other things I can take to help decorate the float tomorrow besides my flags? I don’t know. Christmas is coming, the goose is getting fat– Wait! It’s not time to sing Christmas songs yet!
[Now is cleaning the bathroom.]
I really liked that picture I pinned on “Dylan’s Story.” But I need to find a picture of Dylan. Should he have a book in his hand? No, probably not. I wonder how many downloads of TCR-1 I’ve had today? I didn’t have any when I first checked. Oh, well. I’ve gotten a lot already. If Dad is going to the parade tomorrow, I can let him drive. If he’s not, where will I park? I hope the one parking lot won’t be full. But we have to be there at 7 am. So . . . We might be good. We wish you a merry Christmas. We wish– Not again! I don’t want to sing Christmas songs yet! But we’ll have to start practicing them in November after church if we are going to do bells with the children again. That’ll be fun. Now, what was I doing? Oh, yes, I needed to clean the shower-head. It’s really covered with water residue. What are we going to have for lunch? I’ll probably have to make myself something. Oh, wait! We have leftovers! Yum. I wonder what happens next in “Hymns in the Hills.” But I can’t write that one yet! I have to keep working on “Finding Joy” or “Dylan’s Story.” Could I get a new Thanksgiving story written for this year? But we have American Government Camp. I don’t know if I’ll have time.
[Goes downstairs to get a knife to scrape the residue off.]
I wonder what’s for lunch? Do I need to make something? I should ask Sis– no. I already know. We have leftovers. Bother. I need to start my Christmas list. I have two things to put on it now. But maybe I should just buy them myself.
[Back upstairs]
Buy me some peanuts and cracker-jacks. I don’t care if I never get back.– I’m not going to a baseball game! Let’s get this cleaning done so I can do something else! What time will we have to leave tomorrow? Six-thirty? Probably. It would be nice if Dad were going and he could figure out where to park. But if I have to park I hope the parking lot has room . . . Uh, I think I already thought that. I really need to write things down and figure out what I need to do the rest of this year. I have a book to edit for someone, and blog posts to write, and–oh, I’m going to have three audio books to listen to and approve before Christmas! Yikes! I wonder if I have any comments. What’s for lunch? I can’t wait to decorate for Christmas! I wonder if my readers will want another “tour of Garlandsburg”? But I can’t plan Christmas stuff yet! . . .
Yeah, it was kind of crazy. Could you make connections between things? But that’s my brain. Only it was a bit worse than usual.
What is your brain like? Does it jump around from thought to random thought? Or do you stay focused on one idea for a while and then logically move to the next thought?

Hey, that’s me, too! Only, the bad thing is, I oftentimes say part of my thoughts out loud … and no one understands. People will be talking about one thing, say, the local camp where my friend volunteers most of the summer, and I’ll suddenly say something about dogs. Thankfully, my friends are gracious; they’ll just let me change the subject and ignore the fact that I had an inner debate going in my head about the greatness of border collies instead of listening to what they were saying. 😀

I say things that sound strange too. Only usually I can “connect” what I say with what was being talked about. But the connection is often very strange and no one understands it even if I try to explain. 😀

That was fun! You are good a multitasking. 😉 My brain does skip around, but not that quickly I don’t think.

Multitasking? 🙂 I like that! I’ve never been good a multitasking. I either talk or I work. 😉
Thanks for commenting.

Glad you enjoyed it, Blessing. No, you are NOT the only one with Christmas songs in your head! 😉 Now I just need an idea for a new Christmas story to write . . . Any suggestions?

Hahah this was a fun post. Sounds somewhat like my brain. I’m very easily distracted and I ramble and bunny-trail so easily. 😛

😀 Oh, the things my brain does! 😛
