A Letter from Camp – July 2021

July 13, 2021 by readanotherpage 4 Comments

Dear Readers,

Here I am at KDWC once again. I have a tent full of amazing and fun girls. So far we’ve had a pillow fight, late night note passing, and lots of writing. There has been laughter around the campfire, swims in the lake, singing in the hills, and inspiration in the meadow.

This camp has broken all records of previous camps in that we have over 100 campers this time! We’ve never reached that number before and it’s very exciting to see how God is bringing girls and ladies from all over the world to write, encourage, and pray for one another.

Of course with this many campers there are sometimes too many ideas floating around and it is hard to settle down to the story you are supposed to be writing.

This month I have been working on some story prompts since I’ve had so many other things going on as well as camp. Some of the prompts have been short–only a few hundred words long. Others have been longer and I wrote one that I have people demanding more of, so we’ll see what happens. I’ve actually really enjoyed taking a break from longer stories since I’ve spent so much time on Phil Wood.

I do want to get back to my longer stories like Lawrence & Lenexa, or Kelsey. But I did finish up my story for the Hope collection. That was fun. Right now I’m close to the half-way mark for my word count goal for this month.

Well, I should get back to writing. Thanks for letting me write to you and I’d love to hear from you. How are you doing? What are you up to?

I’m really sad I so busy I can’t participate in this summer’s camp, but Lord-willing, I shall be back in the future!

We miss you too, Lilly. Hopefully you will be back in the fall. By the way, if you were at camp, we’d have 3 girls named Lilly. (Spelled differently though.) 🙂

Oh my, that would be kinda crazy because I have been the only Lilly for the last several camps and I have made my email send notifications for several different spellings for my name. 😂 (I suppose that when I return, I shall have to change that!)
