Dear Readers,
Here I am at Writing Camp. No, it’s not the same camp I’ve been to in other years. As I’m sure you’ve heard, I stopped attending Camp NaNo for certain reasons. Now I’m at The King’s Daughters’ Writing Camp. And it’s oh, so much better and so much more fun! Yes, it does get distracting at times when everyone wants to chat, but it also means that there is almost always someone to talk to, or sprint with.
The girls at this camp are very welcoming and friendly. I’m always blessed when someone new arrives and there is a flurry of welcomes and greetings, and offers to help them learn the ropes.
My writing started out good as I was finishing up Lessons from Liberty which is my story for A Very Bookish 4th of July. That was such a fun story to write! (There might be room to sign up to be a part of the book’s launch team HERE.)
Then I went back to Phil Wood and was really struggling to get anything written. I had jotted down ideas for almost the rest of the story, but it just was so hard to get the words out. I wasn’t sure why.
However, after thinking about it, I realized I was afraid of it. Afraid I’d write the wrong thing and have to change things all around again or cut out scenes. As soon as I decided that fear was silly and that I was going to write the story however it needed, the ideas started coming and I’m eager to get to writing each day.
I started the month with a goal of 20k words, but I cut it back to 15k very quickly when I realized just how many other things were going on this month. This is a crazy, busy month for me. If I can reach my 15k, I should be almost finished with Phil Wood. Yay!
Well, I have more writing to do, and people to chat with, and Mary Poppins is asking what she needs to clean today, so I’d better go! I’d love for you to write me back and tell me how you are doing. Are you writing anything? Have I seen you around camp this month?

Haha! I can relate to being scared of writing the wrong thing! I think that may be my problem right now, actually! 😬 But I realised just this morning that I just need to write and it will all come together right in God’s timing!

Yes! And you can’t edit anything if it’s not written.

That’s very true. Once you get words on a page at least you have something to work with!! 😀
