A Letter From Camp 2020

April 14, 2020 by readanotherpage 20 Comments

Dear Readers,

By the time you get this letter, I will have been nearly half a month at Camp. Hard to believe it will have been that long. The time is going by so quickly. This year camp is a little different than before. There hasn’t been as much chatter and sprints as other years. (The website is SLOW.) I guess its this social distancing that’s keeping things from being quite as much fun.

This doesn’t mean that I haven’t been working. So far (as of my writing this letter) I’ve managed to write every single day. Some days are wonderful writing days and I type out 1,500 or more words before the day is over. Other days it’s hard work and I don’t even reach 500 words. But I keep trying. I guess that’s the main thing, right? If you don’t give up, you’ll reach the end of the story some time. πŸ™‚

What have I been working on? Well, I’d love to tell you, but it’s a Secret Project. I’m actually writing part 2 of this project, but I won’t give you any hints. I’ve had people guess two different ideas.

  • A new Graham Quartet
  • A Christmas Story

Alas, I refuse to say if either of those guesses are right or wrong, or if both are way off. I guess you’ll just have to wait. I’d really, really like to reach the end of this story by April 30, but we’ll see. I have ideas for several scenes, but it’s the in-between scenes that are slowing things down.

Don’t worry about me, I’m eating snacks, and doing some sprints. And yes, I’m sleeping well at night. For the most part my cabin mates haven’t been too noisy at night. It is really pretty here at camp. We’ve had some rain, but also some lovely weather! The lake is so beautiful when the sun shines on it.

How are you doing? Have you been working on any projects? Any writing lately? I’d love to hear about it. Do write me back and let me know.

Have a lovely day!

Hey! I’m glad camp is going well! I think this is the first year in a long time I haven’t been in a cabin with y’all! Our cabin has been pretty quiet to, but I’m still enjoying camp. =)
I hope your project goes well!

      Hi!
Yes, you didn’t join us this year, but I’m glad you are still enjoying it.
Thanks. My project is going really well right now.

I totally forgot to even ask if Next Door was going to be together this year since March was so crazy, then one of my friends needed a cabin, so we started one together. =)

That’s all right. We have a few empty beds, but since the site has been so slow we are almost never on it except to update our word count or maybe leave a comment.

I’m doing NaNoWriMo for the first time this year. I thought the website was just slow for me.

No, it certainly is not just you.
But aside from the slow website, I hope you are enjoying camp.

I’m no longer convinced it’s a Christmas story because of its length… but you did kinda talk like it might be, I think… 😝
    will we ever know 🀨

I never said anything about it being a Christmas story or not. I simply answered your questions. πŸ˜‰
And yes, you will know. Once I get it done. πŸ™‚

Fun! I’m doing Camp NaNo this April too. πŸ˜€ My potential word count goal is a simple 10K.
Good luck, and I can’t wait till you reveal your special project! <3 (*is secretly hoping for another Graham Quartet mystery*) πŸ˜‰

Thanks. I refuse to give even a hint about what this Secret Project is about. πŸ˜‰ Hopefully I can announce it next month. Maybe.

Well, since the Secret Project I mentioned in this letter is published and available, I’ll tell you what it was/is. It was the first two Woodbreak books and the Prequel.
