Dear Readers,
I know that Camp NaNo has officially ended, but I’m still hanging out in the cabin with some of my cabin mates trying to get the cabin back in order. (After all, it would terrible to lose a page of someone’s story!) We’ve been through so much together that it’s hard to say good bye. But let me tell you about camp!
We found out we could get registered a little early and so, by the beginning of June our cabin Next Door was half way full. Oh, the fun of those days. There was lots of chatting, and getting to know each other. We went hiking up the nearby mountains, and almost lost a few of the girls. But thankfully they did make it back before we had to get a rescue party together.
Once Camp actually started we had a full cabin with three sets of sisters. Such fun! The chatter wasn’t so crazy, but we certainly weren’t quiet! Not with pillow fights, character visits, snacks, brain storming, laughing, name sharing, hanging out at the lake, threatening to dunk different ones in the lake, and a few actual dunkings, and of course much sprinting. We encouraged each other on hard days, cheered each other to wins, prayed when things were rough, and had a great time. There were some girls assigned to our cabin who never showed up, so we kind of took over their bunks. π
For me, this camp was vastly different than my July camp of last year. Last year I found myself lowering my goal twice because of everything that was going on. This year I didn’t have to. I was able to fit in times of writing and reached my goal of 20k early. I even talked some cabin mates into spending a day trying to get more writing done. It wasn’t a write-a-thon, but it was a great day of focusing and getting more written. I ended up with 4,289 words written that day. π My focus this month started on By Paths Unknown but shifted to Hymns in the Hills. My final word count for the month was 22,235.
So many of the girls in the cabin won this time that the banner with our certificates was nice and full. But there is now only one day left here. Some of the girls have already had to pack up and leave. TheΒ rest of us are savoring each final day. Some of them might be back for NaNo in November, but I won’t. But at least I’ll have Goodreads, and emails to keep in touch until next March when the cabins open for the April camp!
And now I must go and finish helping clean. Who knows, I might find a forgotten stash of chocolate! *happy thought*

π Tell you what, if I find it first, I’ll split it with you. Deal? Yeah, that lake got used for threats or for dunking more than ever this time. π

I love these camp letters of yours. They are so creative and cool. xD

Thanks, Katja. Writing pretend letters is what actually got me started in writing, so it feels delightful to slip back into that style. π
