Favorite Things Tag
The Rules:
–Thank and link back to the person’s blog who tagged you! Thanks, Heidi!
-Thank and link back to the person’s blog who started the tag! Thanks, Beth, whoever you are.
-Write about eight of your favorite things in your post! I will do my best. (Now I’m wondering if it counts if I do exactly 8 instead of about 8.)
-Add at least 2 pictures or gifs in your post that are related to your favorite things. Since I don’t like gifs, I’ll use pictures. Thanks for the option. π
-Tag eight people at least! (If you don’t know eight blogs to tag, just tag as many as you can.) Yeah, well, about that . . .
-Put the eight rules in your blog post! β
-Include the picture above for the beginning of your post! β
-Have fun! It’s a requirement to have fun? Okay.
Now we will get on with things. (I considered just using Heidi’s list but since she started off with cats and they are NOT on my favorites list, I think I’d better just do my own.) These are not in any certain order of rank since that wasn’t one of the requirements.
- Homemade Ice cream
During these hot summer months home made ice cream is just good. It’s also good during the rest of the year. My sister makes it almost every week and we eat it after dinner on Sunday nights.
- A Good Book
Who doesn’t love a good book? There are so many good books and I’m not even going to attempt to pick a few favorites. If you want that, make sure you are here the first full week in October for our Five Fall Favorites blog party!
- Autumn
I think I’ve always loved autumn. Perhaps it first started when we’d do school during the hot summer months and take more time off during the wonderful days of fall. Whatever the reason and whenever it started, I love the colors of fall, the crisp temperatures, wearing sweaters, crunching leaves, busy animals finding nuts, open windows, bonfires, pumpkin scones, Thanksgiving, and so much more.
- Sue Thomas F.B.Eye and Signed, Sealed, Delivered
If I had to pick two favorite TV series, these would be it. My family has been watching Sue Thomas now for years and it is about an FBI team. And Signed, Sealed, Delivered we just discovered last year. It is about a team in the Denver post office who work in the dead letter department trying to figure out how to get supposedly undeliverable mail delivered.
- Writing!
It’s probably a good thing this is on my favorite things list since I am a writer. π
- Nieces and Nephews
Yes, one of the favorite things of this auntie is her eight nieces and nephews. I still can’t believe the oldest is going to be 15 in about a month! And the youngest is 16 months. They are all so much fun.
- Christmas
If you’ve followed this blog during December or happen to have looked at my Christmas books page, you might have picked up on the fact that I love Christmas.
- Nature
One of the things that inspires many of my stories are pictures of nature. It doesn’t matter what season, but I love God’s creation. The mountains, rivers, sandy shores, rocky cliffs, towering trees, flowers, birds, animals, and I could go on and on.
There you have it. Eight of my favorite things. If you want to be tagged, consider it done. And let me know when you do it.
What are some of your favorite things? Are any of my favorites the same as yours? Have you done this tag before? If so, leave me a link in the comments and maybe I’ll hope over and read it.

Oh, how fun! I did this one just a few months ago, I believe. (https://beyondtheliteraryhorizon.blogspot.com/2021/06/favorite-things-tag.html) I enjoy all the things you listed, minus the two TV shows I’ve never watched. π

Oh, I’ll have to go check out your list, Martha. π

I love quite a few of your favorite things!
Christmas…a good book…fall…God’s creation. I don’t have nieces or nephews, but my Sunday school children are “my kids.”β€ I also love playing piano, summer, flowers, my sisters! That’s 9 things….oh wellπ
I can’t wait for five fall favorites!

Love you list, Ruthann! Thanks for sharing it!
And yes, preparation for the Five Fall Favorites is underway! π

It took a bit to come up with all eight of my favorite things! I wasn’t sure I even had eight favorite anythings haha.
Don’t scowl – but first is CATS! Then we have Jeeps, cold brew, everything Autumn, nature (esp. mtns and beaches), books that you can’t put down, instrumental music that inspires writing, and Snickers bars XD!!!

I won’t scowl. I’d be more than happy to send you all the stray cats from our neighborhood. π If I could just figure out how to catch them.
Lovely list. (I’ll ignore the first item.) π
Amy says
How To Catch a Cat by A.R. Once upon a sidewalk, a little girl placed a cardboard box. A stray kitty cat came and sniffed the box inside and out as he curiously walked all around it. He nudged his face on it and chewed the edge then jumped right in. The little girl laughed and laughed. “Silly kitty,” said she. Then she went and got a smaller box. The kitty cat jumped out of the first box and stood in front of the second box and sniffed the air for a moment before hopping into the small box. The little girl laughed again and took the box with the kitty cat home in hopes her daddy would let her keep him. The End.
Seriously though– I’ve never seen a cat resist a box. They just can’t help themselves. Apparently it’s true for the big cats like tigers and lions too.

Well, I never knew that. But after I catch the cats, I’d have to get them to you. π Maybe you should just come visit and you can catch them and take them all home. π

Oh, now I’m excited! I love all of these things (except for nieces/nephews, since I don’t have any; well, actually I’m “Auntie” or “Auntie Sophie” in the game a couple of my little siblings like to play that somehow infiltrates every day life, but ya know real ones at least….)
How does one pick only eight things?! There’s American flags flying in the breeze, paperbook books by Indie authors, hymnals, video teachers, writing dialogue, plotting stories, crazy songs, laughing and chatting with other girls and ladies at church, young children, introducing children to reading, libraries, other writers, boxes of empty stationary, signing, singing hymns in ASL, watching interpreters, tall green trees, hot chocolate with whipped cream, vanilla icecream, Harriers, Marines standing at the front gate, police officers leaned against their patrol cars, passing out gospel tracts, journaling, most episodes of Gomer Pyle, some episodes of Sue Thomas: F.B.Eye, Go Teen Writers, FBN, Christian conservative music in general, Patch the Pirate/Majesty Music, the Marine Corps hymn plus all the other branches’ hymns/songs, specials in church, puffy white clouds on a light blue sky, planes and jets flying over the house, writing challenges, keys clicking on a keyboard…… Haha! I think that was 36 things and I could go on!

That’s quite a list, CeeCee! This tag wasn’t an exclusive list or I’d never have been able to choose. π Some things I had to be more general on, like nature.
Ashley says
I LOVE Sue Thomas! My family has watched that countless times. My sister and I have even memorized many lines just from watching it so much. I also love good books, writing, Christmas, iced coffee, ice cream, swimming at the beach, watching sunrises, photography, and crocheting, just to name a few. I am not an aunt….yet…..but when/if I do get to be one, I know Iβll love it! π
