There are many book series. Some are more popular and others are not. I thought it would be fun to have a series about book series and share some of these with you all.
Grandma’s Attic by Arleta Richardson
Overview:
The stories of a girl growing up in the 1800s from childhood to adulthood. Mabel, along with her best friend, Sarah Jane, get into one thing after another as they grow up, but their friendship never wavers.
Main Characters and Relationships:
Mabel doesn’t always have the best relationship with her brothers, and she and her friend always seem to find themselves in one predicament after another. Mabel grows up, teaches school, gets married, and has her own children and while everything isn’t smooth sailing, things are dealt with and lessons are learned.
Pros and Cons:
Pros: Many great lessons about what not to do as well as some good lessons on relations and people, and friendships. These are clean and Christian.
Cons: I remember at least one story where Mabel and Sarah Jane have their fortunes told, but this is quickly shown to not be right. Sibling relationships aren’t the best even though when it comes down to it, they do love each other.
My Thoughts:
I loved this series growing up and still do. The first books are all short stories, but when you get to Away from Home, they tell one story focusing on Mabel and her growing up and eventually getting married. These are books I’ll just pull off the shelf for a little fun reading now and then and recommend.
How Many Books:
There are 10 books in this series with several companion books including a cookbook and a collection of Christmas stories (that aren’t all in the other books).
Have you read this series before? If so, what did you think of it? Do you enjoy stories of best friends growing up together? Stories that make you laugh?

Ohhhh, this series is the best 😍😍 I had the first two books growing up, my mom read them to me the first time and after that I read them both to death 😂 I knew there was a third one, but I only found out years later that it was a whole series. And then in the last two years or so I was able to find them all on Archive and I was sooo excited. I think I’ve read all but the last one now? Last two? Not sure, but I just love them all so much 😍 And those covers are sooo beautiful – these were definitely among my top childhood favourites 😀

It is so much fun! I grew up with the books too. They are a series I’ll just pick up and read bits and pieces when I’m not sure what I want to read.
