Hello, and welcome to the first 5th Tuesday in 2022. In this series I am going to be sharing some of my earlier writings with you all. *gulps and wonders if this is such a good idea* Now remember, I did NOT like writing, but most of the stories and things I’ll be sharing were dictated and I’ve always had a big imagination. π
Today we are going to go way back to the time I was eight years old. These were some of the very first creative writing stories I ever wrote/dictated. And I’m going to give you two of them because they are so short. And yes, you are welcome to laugh. I did. π
The King and Queen’s Anniversary

Once upon a time there lived a king and queen in an old castle. They had two children, a boy and a girl. Their names were Jennifer and John. They had everything they needed.
One day, on their anniversary some friends decided to get together to celebrate. They didn’t know where to go but the queen knew a place to go. The queen told everybody to pick a partner. They let Spot the dog come too. The king and queen led them to an old cave which had a very old slide and a very old stairway. They went in a line from the oldest to youngest down the slide. As soon as they were done they went back to the castle and ate ice cream and cake. Then they all went home and went to bed.

The Monkey Family

Once upon a time there lived a family of monkeys. They had two children. Their names were Thomas and Katie. One day the baby monkey were left by themselves and they ran away to explore the woods. They saw something that looked bigger than them. So they climbed up in a tree. Then they saw a man on a horse with a gun in his hands. Then the man saw the monkeys and raised his gun. The two frightened monkeys climbed higher in the trees. All of a sudden a big loud bang was heard.
The two scared monkeys jumped from branch to branch. Then all of a sudden they saw their mother and father swinging towards them on the branches. As soon as the parents caught up to their children a big bear came along.
The babies saw what was happening and swung from branch to branch. The mother and father were not far behind. As soon as they were out of the jungle they saw another man on a horse. He did not have a gun anywhere. When the monkeys saw the man they swung lower and lower. Then the man called his children. The children came quickly to see what their father wanted.
“What do you want, Father?”
“Look at these monkeys, aren’t they cute,” replied their father.

Which story was your favorite? Did I sound like a future author? No! I’m glad my mom saved these stories as they are so funny! Do you have any old stories that you wrote when you were little?
Ah, these stories gave me a smile. I’m glad you kept writing, though!
Glad you enjoyed them, Lilly. They made me laugh. π
So cute! I didn’t like writing when I was younger either, and I often dictated things to my mom to be written. Both your stories were creative (the slide in the cave) and it was fun! I remember some of the stories I wrote when I was younger, but I don’t have a written copy of them anymore. Thanks for sharing!
You’re welcome. I’m glad my mom saved them even if I just have to laugh at them. π
Did my comment on the reading challenge with two more books go through today? I don’t see it. It only had one link. π
It’s there now. I had to approve it so it went a different place and I didn’t see it.
So funny! I’m glad your mom saved those so that you can enjoy them now and share them!
Me too! π I didn’t remember them and they made me laugh. π
Aww, these were such sweet stories! Thank you for sharing them, Rebekah!
I remember, when I was about six or seven, writing ‘stories’ about a horse who won jumping competitions; I even illustrated them, though I got wrapped up in creating the scene than actually writing XD.
You’re welcome. Glad you enjoyed them.
Fun! I wasn’t all that interested in drawing pictures for my stories. I just wanted to talk. π
These are so much fun!π€£ I do have one (unfinished) story I wrote when I was about four or five – my sister started it for me than then left me to carry it on. It was called “Three Little Birds” I take it out sometimes to read it and laugh at the handwriting, which is just all over the placeπ€£ I know I did more which I vaguely remember but I don’t think we have them anymoreπ One of them was about a family of monkeys!ππ
I look forward to seeing more of yours!ππ€©
What? You wrote about a family of monkeys too? That’s funny! π
Aha, these are so cute! I wasnβt expecting the monkey one ;P But the King & Queen one is also particularly funnyβ¦ I love the image of them trooping down that slide, oldest to youngest π
Yes, all going down the slide makes me laugh at the thought of it. π
Ah, yes, the monkeys. π
I really liked reading these stories! Thanks for posting and Happy birthday!
Glad you enjoyed them. π
Haha! These stories are cute!
π Thanks. π
I’m not an author, but for a while when I was younger I would write part of a story and send it to my cousins once a week in a homemade card. Unfortunately, I don’t think I ever actually finished any of the stories I started, but I do have copies of some of the parts…. They’re funny to read because of the immaturityπ
Oh, that sounds like fun! And rereading stories you wrote when you were young can be rather fun. π
The first one of these about the king and queen was my favorite! Both were actually pretty interesting though. π This 5th Tuesdays series sounds like fun! I’ve actually found that I have a new habit of, when I flip the calendar to the new month, automatically counting the Tuesdays in it, lol.
I have a few stories I’ve written when I was younger that I’ve gotten to laugh over. I actually haven’t ever gone back and read any that I wrote for school though, only ones for fun, but I’d like to someday!
Glad you enjoyed them both. Haha! I like your new habit. π
Reading old stories can be very entertaining. π
Well, these are better than the stories I wrote when I was eight. That first one was actually suspenseful. π
Hehe! Glad you enjoyed them and I hope you weren’t too frightened. π
Actually, the second story reminds me that I used to tell my younger sisters bedtime stories. I had a story that they loved about a monkey called Lulu. Unfortunately, I don’t remember the story at all, but it was a favorite back in the day. π They loved animal stories, so I’ve had turtles, bears, rabbits, monkeys, and other animals for MCs.
Oh, that sounds like fun! I used to tell my cousin all kinds of stories.
