I’m so happy to be back at the Five Fall Favorites! I missed it last year when I only got to do one post. But now, thanks to Kate taking over completely, I can just be one of the bloggers and share my books (because I really didn’t have the time to organize and plan everything). I don’t know about you, but I’m so ready for fall. The cool days, the crisp evenings, the hot drinks, warm sweaters, colorful leaves and cozy blankets to curl up under and good books to read.
Today let’s head over to the local library, and I’ll share a few of the books I’ve enjoyed from there. It’s not a far walk in this little town. And the library is so quaint and cute.
A Lady’s Guide to Fortune-Hunting
I laughed out loud several times while reading it. And oh, how refreshing to find a woman honest enough to say she didnβt have money and needed to marry someone who did. But the interactions between Kitty and Lord Radcliffe still make me laugh as I think about them trying to blackmail each other, bribe each other, and well, itβs not the same if you donβt read it.
[There are some swear words.]
This story was so simple, yet full of wisdom about writing and what it really is. Each one of the children in this story finds their own use for writing word after word after word. And the writer’s view of outlines sounds just like me.
This story was delightful. It held mystery, excitement, and everyday life. I was pulled in from the start and my sympathies were roused by Dym and Tony/Max. The one dealing with the loss of a younger brother, and the other dealing with the sudden change from being a Nazi youth to a boy in England, from being an only child, to living in a house full of people.
Right from the start I was pulled into the story of Caroline, Oliver, Letta, and the others. I wanted to take Letta and her brothers home with me, so the ending was perfect. . . . I really appreciated how the author wove the Christian aspects of the story into the plot instead of just dumping them in so she could call it “Christian”.
The Librarian of Boone’s Hollow
I was not disappointed. Not only did I feel like I really got to know Addie and Emmett, and even Bettina, but I felt as though the small mountain town with its suspicions, rivalry, and prejudice came alive for me. I enjoyed learning about the tiny library that smelled of ham, and the difficulties of managing the worn and tattered books.
And that concludes our visit to the library today. I hope you are planning on seeing whatever library books are getting shared elsewhere like I do. Come on, let’s go over to Kate’s Blog and find another place to visit.
I forgot! I’m giving you all the first FREE book of the party! So head over to Amazon to pick up your FREE copy of my autumn novella Finding Home.
Have you read any of these books? Do any of them sound like something you’d enjoy reading? What are some library books you’ve enjoyed?
Bethany Willcock says
Yay for the start of FFF! Most of these books are ones I’ve been thinking of trying out for a while, perhaps I’d better stop thinking and get to it! XD

Yes! All the fun book lists!
I get that. There some countries or eras that I just don’t really enjoy in stories. π

These all sound so good! I started to read The Librarian of Boone’s Hollow a few years back, but I didn’t have time to finish it then, and haven’t gone back to it. I’m glad you’re able to participate in FFF this year!

I hope you enjoy the story. π I’d tell you not to read it all at once, but since it’s not a long story, . . . π
I guess you have a few books to add to your TBR list!
Faith Gilliosa says
Ooh! I think I came across Enemy Brothers once on Goodreads and was intrigued, but I need to find out if my library has it!

If they don’t, see if they can do Inner Library Loan. That’s how I got it. π
