It’s almost the end of the party but I’m so glad you were able to come today. I hope you find many books.
It looks today is going to be another beautiful day. The sun is shining and the fog over the lake is already burning away. I think these blankets will be wanted not to keep warm, but to spread out on the grass and sit on while diving into a stack of books. But if your are after a bit more adventure, take a bike ride along the trails in the woods and collect books in your basket. Or take an armload of favorite stories to the barn to sit and read. Perhaps you can find a friend to join you in one of the boats where you can talk of favorite authors and stories. Sit around the glowing coals of the bonfire and chat, or fill up your backpack, take a hike and rest on one of the benches. Of course there is still time to head to the orchard, pick a few apples and look for some empty bushel baskets. If you can’t find any out there, check near the kitchen door.
Just so you know how this works, I’ll be sharing my Top 5 books in the day’s genre, and right below that, I’ll have the links to all the other rooms, I mean blogs. Make sure you check them all out and find the Books room because they will be offering a FREE short story! And then, below the party rooms, is the giveaway. You won’t want to miss that!
Babies
I love babies in real live, and I love having babies in books. Of course many books with babies have them as side characters since I’m not sure how it would work to have them as an MC. But all these books are about babies or have babies in them.
Baby Dear by Esther Burns Wilkin
This story has been a favorite for as long as I can remember. I’ve always loved baby dolls and real babies, so the story of this little girl and her doll is so sweet. Plus the illustrations are so cute!
Baby Island by Carol Ryrie Brink
Is this a realistic story? No. Do I care? No. I’ve absolutely loved this story since I was old enough to read it. Somehow the thought of having not just one but four babies to take care of always intrigued me, and yes, there is a happy ending.
Christie’s Christmas by Isabella Alden
While half of this story takes place on Christmas Day, it’s not your usual Christmas story. And babies! There are at least three different babies and well, I don’t want to give away too much, but I love this story.
Partners by Grace Livingston Hill
This story shows such love and care for a child no one else wants to take care of. I wanted to step in and help, but it turns out I wasn’t needed.
Seven From Heaven by Bobbi and Kenny McCaughey
I remember how my best friends and I followed the story of the McCougheys when their babies were born. We watched anything, and read anything about them. You want a real story about babies and the miracle they are? Read this book. I need to go read it again.
