And here we are. Week 2 of our delightful Summer Read and Review fun! I hope you are ready. (And if you find things a bit changed and not quite right, sorry. I’m getting moved from Blogger to WordPress and haven’t figured everything out yet. 🙂 )
Home Fire of the Great War was my first book. It’s also my sister’s favorite of my books. I spent over five years researching and writing this book and by the time I was done, I felt as though Emma and Maria and their families were personal friends of mine. I wanted to introduce them to others.
The “Ted, Fred, Larry & Jim” stories were probably among my favorite parts to write. 🙂 Most of the letters from the front lines were based on real stories I had come across. And if you read about something and think it’s unrealistic, that’s probably the parts that are true. Truth is stranger that fiction. I found that out during my research!
There was so much I learned while writing this book, that I felt like I could have written a second book about the same time.
