Welcome to the 2022 Read Another Page Reading Challenge!

What would a blog with a title like Read Another Page be without reading challenges?
I don’t know about you, but reading challenges have made me read many more books than I usually do. And some are even ones I wouldn’t have picked up otherwise. So let’s challenge ourselves with some reading this year! This will be the 5th year I’ve hosted a reading challenge on my blog. And each year has been different. This year is no exception. Are you ready to join? I’ve added something new this year.
This year I’m going to have 3 different variations of the challenge. You can pick which level you want to be in.
Level 1
Average Reader
The book you read can be ones you’ve already read, from your TBR list, or new books. The only requirement is that they must fit the categories listed below.
Level 2
Advanced Reader
For this level half of the books you read MUST be from your TBR list (books you’ve wanted to read since before 2022). They must also fit the categories listed below.
Level 3
Adventurous Reader
For this top level ALL the books you read for this challenge MUST be from your TBR list (books you’ve wanted to read since before 2022). They must also fit the categories listed below.
The challenge starts on January 1st and ends on June 30, 2022.
When you sign up please let me know which level you are trying for.
First the rules because what’s a challenge without rules?
- These books may be read in any order. You do NOT have to start at the top and read down.
- You may count any books you read for this challenge for other challenges if you wish.
- In order for your books to count, they must be read in 2022 between January 1 and June 30.
- Unless indicated all books must be at least a few chapters in length. (Even two or three chapters, but they must have chapters!)
- This challenge starts January 1st, and ends June 30th 2022. Any books read during that time count.
- If you are doing levels 2 or 3 than any TBR books MUST be on your TBR (To Be Read) list before January 1st. (We are working on cutting down the older stack before diving into the newest ones.)
Earning Points:
To earn points you can read book, write reviews, and invite friends to join the challenge. Here is how it works.
Once you’ve read your first 4 books (whatever 4 those happen to be) you will get your first Point. After that, it will be as follows:
- Read 4 books = 1 point
- Every 2 books read after that = 1 point
- Review 4 books = 1 point
- Every 2 books reviewed after that = 1 point
- For every friend who joins (and mentions your name), you will get a point after they have read their first 4 books.
Advanced and Adventurous Levels will get Bonus points when they’ve either completed the challenge or June 30th arrives.
Now let’s get started!
To sign up simply send me an email and let me know you’re joining. (If a friend told you about the Reading Challenge, make sure you mention their name to me when you join so they get credit.) I’ll add your name to the Reading Companions page. (You can use the Contact form if you do not already have my email address.)
When you’ve read a book (or more than one if you’d rather) comment on this 2022 Reading Challenge Page and I’ll mark you down for those books. Please make sure you let me know which # the book was read for so I can mark it in the right place. 😀
Ready for that list yet?
(You can also download a pdf copy of the list HERE if you want it printed. I like to do that and then pencil in the books I think I want to read for each section.)

https://exampleofthebeliever.wixsite.com/website/post/book-reviews-two-in-one-alaska-adventure-books-7-and-9
Great! I’ll get them added. I’m finding it rather fun that this series seems to fit in with the different categories of the challenge. 🙂
Me, too! Not all the books fit, but most of them did! 😀
😀
I just have one more (I’ve already read all the easy categories apparently and most books I’m reading anyway don’t seem to fit into one, lol!)
The Graham Quartet and the Mysterious Strangers by Rebekah A. Morris (#2) And I checked the blown-up, full-color picture this time and am almost dead sure that’s a hat this time, lol. https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/4562189904 *isn’t sure how to make that a link but hopes that worked, lol…*
The link works just fine. 😀 And yes, there is a hat on this cover. 😉
I’ll get it added for you.
Have fun finding books that fit the other categories.
Wow, it’s taken me ages to get a start on this challenge! I’ve been stuck on a couple long books for most of the year so far, and only now I’m starting to move on to other things XD Plus I’ve been falling behind badly with my reviews…🙈 Anyway, here’s what I have so far! Hopefully I can start doing more faster now 😀

Review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/4444011610

Oh, longer books take longer, I know. But good job getting started.
I’ll get these marked and added for you.
I’ve finished two books and am in the middle of 4 others! I used to say I was someone who read one book at a time. Now, I go through several at once!

#15 – The Reluctant Bride by Sarah Beth Brazytis
#2 – Promise of Refuge by Jayna Baas
Good job, Autumn! I’ll get these marked for you!
And yes, toy horses count. 😀 But did this story have chapters? If not, you can count it as your #19 short story.
Never mind. You already have a #19. 😀
Oh does it have to not have chapters to count as a short story? Cause I think SOmething sweet, someone sweet did have chapters.
Short stories can have chapters or not, whichever you want. But all the rest have to have chapters.
Okay so the Uncle Outlaw didn’t have chapters, so can you switch that to 19 and put Something Sweet, Someone Sweet for 14?
Yep, I can do that. I’ll get it fixed tomorrow. 🙂
Great, thanks!
I’m finally sitting down to add more!

And yes, Genesis counts. 🙂
But does Six O’Clock have chapters? Only #19 is allowed to not have chapters.
Haha, yeah.
Oh, oops always forget that. Does this one count for #12 – Pandora’s Lunchbox by Melanie Warner. https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/4609406645?book_show_action=false&from_review_page=1
Yep. 🙂
Okay, final update here – I wasn’t’ able to completely finish the challenge, but I still had fun!
First off, realizing the one I have for #3 is a short story w/o chapters so please strike that one from the record. I’m just going to put a full update here: Notice I switched a few around

#19 The Uncle Outlaw (https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/4550740326?book_show_action=false&from_review_page=1)
#20 Missing Microbes (https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/4655540554?book_show_action=false&from_review_page=1)

Great job! I’ll get these all marked for you! Thanks for being a part of the challenge. 🙂
TBR #4 Special Friends at Home, by Sara J. Yoder.

Letters from a Scatter-Brained Sister by Amanda Tero (#19)
And I think the younger girls have some too, but I’m gonna have to sit down with them and figure it out or something as they haven’t kept a list, lol.
Great! I’ll get them added for you both. 😀
Hey Me again! It’s been a while…
#19 The Three Weavers by Annie Fellows Johnston https://laughsandliterature.wordpress.com/2022/02/08/im-slipping-book-review-vote/
#12 Journeys through Bookland vol.1 by Charles H. Sylvester (1911 edition)
#25 Two crafty criminals! and how they were captured by the daring detectives of the New Cut gang. By Phillip Pullman
I also have a question; For the leaves on the cover one, can it be, say, a leaf design on a pin? Or a leaf pattern on a dress? A leaf shaped clasp?
Whoops! Missed one. Blue Willow by Doris Gates for #11.
Got it.
Great! I’ll get them marked for you!
Oh, good question. As long as there are more than one leaf and it’s clear they are leaves, any of those are fine. I just don’t want to have to get out a magnifying glass and search for a leaf. But also, if you have trees and it’s summer, those are leaves. Or leaves on flowers work too.
Um, I just realized that we don’t have a #25, so what is your last book really for?
Oops! That’s supposed to be 23. Sorry!
Thank you!
Ah, got it! 😀
Two more TBR books and their reviews:

Two more TBR books and their reviews:

https://exampleofthebeliever.wixsite.com/website/post/book-reviews-2-in-1-alone-other-stories-rebekah-morris-writing-a-research-paper-edward-shewan
I only have three books left! I think I know what I’m reading for them, although I’m having a little trouble with the one that two people recommend to me. The book I wanted to read for that, I ended up needing for another #. I’m debating whether to read a book that “everybody” recommends and that I’ve read before, or a book that just my mom recommended to me, and another friend recommended the learning about knowledge that’s in that book. Okay, I was rambling. 😉 I’m having a lot of fun with this reading challenge!
Wow! You’re almost finished! Good job!
I’ve not been an especial speed-reader lately, but I’ve finally completed a few:
#6 – A book at least 200 pages: Arabian Winds by Linda Chakin; review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/4455957715

CutePolarBear/Hanna
That’s okay, you are still making progress. I’ll get these added tomorrow.
Oh, and the cover of my version of A Father’s Promise was this cover (not on Goodreads): https://www3.alibris-static.com/a-fathers-promise/isbn/9780890843796_l.jpg
Perfect. Thanks!
Sorry to be so slow on this challenge – I’m slowly coming out of my reading slump, I think! (And my reviewing slump, which is probably more the problem😝)
4. Horse on the cover – Jayne’s Endeavour by Lauren Compton (TBR)
Review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/4271392397
5. No picture on the front cover – Pollyanna of the Orange Blossoms by Harriet Lummis Smith (TBR)
Review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/4506457621
😀 It’s okay to read slowly. I’ll get these marked for you.
I did Lighten Our Darkness by Sarah Brazytis for #6 (200 pages) – https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/3496076355?book_show_action=false&from_review_page=1
and Kiera by Kate Willis for #11 (same initial) – https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/3455554497?book_show_action=false&from_review_page=1
Great! I’ll get them marked.
Only 3 books left!
Ah, I forgot to say I read Mary Barton for #18 (over 100 years old) – https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/3710087216?book_show_action=false&from_review_page=1
And I read The Black Stallion Returns for #4 (horse) – https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/3959931896.
Oh, so you only have 1 book left!
Aaaand I finished!!!
Last Book — recommended by at least 2 people — Kate’s Capitol by Sarah Holman!
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/3649552850?book_show_action=false&from_review_page=1
WooHoo!!! Way to go, Kats!
Thanks for being a part of this reading challenge! I’ll get this last book marked!
Sadly, I’m not getting nearly as much reading done as I’d hoped this year…but here are the ones I’ve gotten so far:
2 – Daisies are Forever by Liz Tolsma: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2089922541
14 – Revealed by Lisa M. Clark: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/3074101873
17 – Dylan’s Story by Rebekah A. Morris: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/4543435682
20 – Malicious Intent by Lynn H. Blackburn: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/4585511186
That’s better than none! I’ll get these marked for you.
Hey! So, me and my sisters were trying to get a list of the books we’ve read for this together! We have some books that we’ve read together, me reading and them listening. We figured being read to still counted, but thought we’d ask before we got together the “official” list, lol. 😀
Yes, “audio” books count as long as they listened to the whole thing and didn’t just listen for a few chapters. 😀
I’m back with my last three books for the challenge! I stopped blogging because I realized I hadn’t prayed about starting it and when I did pray about it, I was uncomfortable keeping the blog. So, I have to figure out where I can post the reviews for these. I hope to do that soon.
#10 – By Paths Unknown by Rebekah Morris
#11 – Colorado with the Moodys (I used the first letter of my real name. 😉 ) by Sarah Maxwell
#23 – Honesty is the Best Policy by Mary E Ropes
None were TBR
Good job! I’ll get these books added for you and if you figure out where to post your reviews, let me know. If one of your parents has an account on Amazon you might be able to do it there.
Thanks! We don’t have an Amazon account…perhaps the sites where I bought the books I can do it? I’ll let you know.
Yes, that works too. Just send me a link if you can. Now I’m curious about where you got them. 😀
😀 Light of Faith and Titus2.
😀
Used my mom’s account on Goodreads to review the books:
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/4700691368 – By Paths Unknown
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/4700696028 – Honesty The Best Policy

That works!

Good job! I’ll get them marked! Only 7 books left!

I’m so behind🙈 However I do have two more that should be coming soon, I just need to write reviews😆 I’m not sure if I’ll finish this challenge (I’m struggling to find books for all the categories) but I’ll do as many as I can!
15. Title with three words – Keeping Up Hope by Rebekah A. Morris (TBR)
Review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/4290699560
20. Wild card – Minor Detail by P.D. Atkerson (TBR)
Review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/4233487643
6. A book at least 200 pages – Kate’s Capitol by Sarah Holman (TBR)

10. A book recommended by at least two people: Tattered Wings by Kassie Angle (TBR)
Review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/4276502757
Good job! You’re getting there! Only 2 more TBR books and then anything that fits the rest of the categories!
Oh, yay!! At this point I’m just reading, it just so happened they were all TBR😆 I might end up with all of the books I read TBR after all🤭
That would be fun! 😀
Just one more, but I wanted to go ahead and say so before I forgot!
Discovering Hope by Rachel E. Rittenhouse (#23) https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/4747089689
Oh, and Elsie says Drover’s Secret Life by John R. Erickson (#17) 😉
Good job both of you. 😀
Sophia, you only have 4 books left to read!
Oh, yay!! I knew I didn’t have too many left! *cringes a bit at seeing you use my name but decides to let it go* ;P
😀 Well, let me say it felt very odd typing your name, CeeCee. 😉 But I thought I’d try it.
Haha! Well, glad ya got the experience, even if you did scare me for a split second using my name! 😉
Hello! Been a while since I’ve checked in…
#9 the Scribe by Francine Rivers
#21 Out of the silent planet by C.S. Lewis
#13 Ramona’s World by Beverly Cleary
#22 the Hobbit by John Ronald Reuel Tolkein (It’s labeled as Sci-Fi for some reason)
#17 Pirates past noon by Mary Pope Osborne
#10 Fablehaven by Brandon Mull (Reccomended by two different cousins)
I have reviews for 21, 13, 22 and 10.
https://laughsandliterature.wordpress.com/2022/05/27/book-reviews-galore/
https://laughsandliterature.wordpress.com/2022/05/09/book-review-the-hobbit/
Great job, Bree! I’ll get these marked and added.
9. Sunset on the cover – Promise of Refuge by Jayna Baas (I think that’s a sunset? If not I could find another category)
Review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/4753025554
16. A book by a new-to-you author: Sue Barton Student Nurse by Helen Dore Boylston (TBR)
Review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/4728605075
Hopefully more coming soon! Just got to review them😅
Yes, #9 is the sunset. 🙂
Good job and keep reading!
Thanks!! 🙂
Two more done!
1. With waves or water on the cover – Kate’s Dilemma by Sarah Holman (TBR)
Review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/3820948503
17. Leaves on the cover: Kate’s Conundrum by Sarah Holman (TBR)
Review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/3820948528
Good job! You’re moving right along. 😀
Angie Thompson’s Second Family – could that count as four people on the cover? There aren’t four faces but you can clearly see that five people are being represented?🤔
Hmm, I guess I didn’t say you had to see 4 faces, so I think I’d count it.
Great, thanks!! I’ll let you know when I’ve reviewed it 😀
Ah, now that I’ve finished with school, I can see a way to take care of the rest of my books. Here are a few more:
#18 – Book published more than 100 yrs ago: The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas; review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/3856420406
#19 – A short story: Promise of Refuge by Jayna Baas; review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/4227865035
#24 – Creature that is not a dog or horse on the cover: A Ranger’s Trail; review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/4507195001
CutePolarBear
That’s probably exciting. 🙂 I always loved it when school was over and I could read more.
I’ll get these marked for you. Have fun reading the last 4 books!
#4 – Horse on the cover: Treasure Mountain by Louis L’Amour; review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/4758565349
#16 – Book by new-to-you author: One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich; review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/3362255161
#20 – Wild card: Fateful Journeys by Gary E Parker; review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/3734931226
And alas, I searched high and low for a book on my TBR with glasses on the cover, and could not find one, so that’s probably a wrap for me!
Hanna
Oh, dear. You can’t find anyone with glasses? Sunglasses? Maybe there’s a book at your house that you haven’t read that has someone with glasses (I’m sure you have a mental TBR list that include all the books in your house.)
Yes, I do include all the books in our house as part of my “mental” TBR, even if they haven’t made it to my Goodreads shelves. I suppose, if I stretch, I could find a couple … but there are some that are decidedly not on my “want to read” list. 😛 (My reading tastes only extend so far)
But, after some more searching, I did find one that I could make myself partially interested. 😀 I just have to muster up the interest to read about a builder of machinery before the end of June. So thanks for the encouragement!
Oh, good! Glad you found one.
And it’s good for your brain to step outside your reading comfort and try something different. Who knows, you might find the book interesting. 😀
Have just a couple more! The Case of the Tabloid Tattler by Perry Elisabeth Kirkpatrick (#24) https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/41712282-the-case-of-the-tabloid-tattler and The Teenage Years of Jesus Christ by Jerry L. Ross (#9) https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/4754497793
Great! I’ll get them added for you.
Oops, I think that last link was wrong. 😛 https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/4747144117?book_show_action=false&from_review_page=1
Oh, thanks. 😀 I would have wondered. 😉
Do you think I could mix two books around?🙈 I’m trying really hard to finish or nearly finish the challenge, but I can only think of one way to fit all the books I’ve done in😄 I have Kate’s Capitol and Kate’s Dilemma for 6 and 1, but if it’s not too much trouble could I change that to 21 (Clouds on the cover) for Kate’s Capitol and then put Kate’s Dilemma as 6? Then I have:
2. Hat on the cover: Kate’s Christmas (TBR)
Review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/3820948649
and for 1 (waves or water) Kate’s Informant (TBR)
Review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/4587668243
Sorry to mess you around like that!🙈
Sure. We can do that. I’ve had to mix things up too trying to make my books work. 🙂
Thanks!!! 🙂

I’ll get these marked. Only 9 books left to read!
A couple more! Mary Rose asked me to tell you West from Home (#15) by Laura Ingalls Wilder, and I then I have Phil Wood by Rebekah A. Morris (#4). https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/4784594620?book_show_action=false&from_review_page=1
I’ll get them added! You only have 1 book left to read, CeeCee!
Yes, I know!! Now I just have to read another one because I wouldn’t want to only lack one!! Except new to you author is so broad it’s hard to choose… Got any suggestions? And if I’ve read soke of their snippets at camp, are they still a new to me author?
If you have not read a full story by them, they are a “new to you author”. Or you could just find a story on a shelf at your house by an author you’ve never read.
Okay, thanks!! And, yes, I do have a book on a shelf I’ve been eyeing here on a shelf at home, but then at the same time my KU subscription is about to end and I’ve been thinking I’d like to try reading books I’ve been thinking of reading on that while I can… I don’t know why picking books to read is so hard! ;P
Ah, if you have KU, then I can understand trying to find a new author on there. And that can be hard.
Well, I ended up not having the time to read that I thought I would. And that’s okay. I got through 10 books on the list. I can pick away at the others through the rest of the year. Here are the last two I finished.
24. Death in the Clouds by Agatha Christie: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/4721817148?book_show_action=false&from_review_page=1
5. Praying Confidently and Consistently by Val Woerner
Hey, 10 books is better than nothing! Good job!
10: Once I Knew by Victoria Lynn
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/59763738-once-i-knew
Review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/4615793769
22: The Adventures of Danny Meadow Mouse by Thornton W. Burgess
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/518618.The_Adventures_of_Danny_Meadow_Mouse
Review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/4812922391?book_show_action=false&from_review_page=1
I’ll get these marked for you!
7. At least 4 people on the cover: Second Family by Angie Thompson (TBR)
Review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/3817810385
13. Flowers on the cover: Falling for the Farmer by Hannah Foster
Review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/4814035507
Only 6 more books, Lydia!
I don’t have reviews for these but I think I’ll just count them as it’s still better than nothing😁
3. Mountains on the cover: The Mystery at the Ski Jump by Carolyn Keene
Link to book: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/54276537-the-mystery-at-the-ski-jump
24. A creature that’s not a dog or a horse on the cover: Fossils That Speak Out by Phil Saint (TBR)
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/6577291-fossils-that-speak-out?ref=nav_sb_ss_1_22
And then I think I’ll go ahead and put these two down as well:
12. No faces on the cover: Home Fires of the Great War (TBR)
Review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/3817810385
18. A book published 100 or more years ago: His Last Bow by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (TBR)
Review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/4709239533
I think those are the right links this time😛
Hoping to get the last two done today!
Do you happen to know of a short story with a person with glasses? 🙂
You’re almost done! Just to find that book with glasses!
*runs in and screeches to a halt* I did it!! Only just, but I finished!😂 I honestly didn’t think I was going to finish this challenge😅 It’s night time here, so I literally JUST scraped through😆 Thanks for hosting this challenge, Auntie!!! It helped a lot with my reading this year (which hasn’t been great but would have been worse without this😂)
Here are my final two books:
8. Person with glasses on the cover: Answers to the 4 Big Questions! by Don Batten et al
Link to book: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/531891.Answers_to_the_Big_4_Questions
Yay for tiny books that you’d forgotten you had, squeezed in between bigger books on your bookshelf!🤣
23. Book set in the 1800’s: The Coxswain’s Bride by R.M.Ballantyne (TBR)
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/22498202-the-coxswain-s-bride-also-jack-frost-and-sons-and-a-double-rescue (It shows me as still currently reading but that’s just because the copy is three books in one, and I haven’t read the other two yet😉)
Way to go, Lyds!!!! You did it! Good job persevering.
I’ll get these marked for you.
Thanks!!💙
Okay! I didn’t get a whole book book read (my brother says saying the word twice doesn’t change the meaning, but you know what I mean :P), but I did realize I did read Zechariah, which I’d never read before, so I figured I’d count that for #16. 😀
Yep, that counts! Way to go, you finished!
