I hope you will join me for another author interview. Today’s guest is someone I’ve mentioned a few times before. She writes my synopsis, and is one of the assistant directors of KDWC.
And so, without further ado, let’s welcome Angie Thompson.
Welcome to Read Another Page, Angie. First off, could you tell my readers just a little bit about yourself?
Sure! I’m one of eight siblings, the oldest (and shortest) in the bunch, and one of only two girls in the mix. I was homeschooled most of my life, taught myself to read at three (true story–ask my mom), and have been telling stories since I could talk. I’ve been a published author for just over three years now, and it’s been one of the most nerve-wracking and exciting experiences of my life!
You’ve written a lot in just three years! (Look at all those books above!) As a writer, if you had the chance to go and spend two weeks anywhere in the world, where would you go? And why?
Ummm…that’s a tough one. I would probably choose somewhere in the British Isles because there are such beautiful and historic settings there. That said, descriptions of places I’ve actually visited aren’t really my strong suit, so don’t expect me to immerse you in the experience like some writers can. But I would probably come home with a bunch of inspiration for characters and plots that I imagined happening there, or in a similar place. 😀
Oh, I’m sure you’d have ideas for dozens of stories and we’d want to read them all. When you hear the word “spring” what things come to mind?
Flowers and bunnies and baby birds 🙂
I think of those things too. 🙂 I’m sure you have many ideas for stories. Have you ever had to deal with which story to work on first? How do you handle that situation?
Ha! Not incredibly well, I’m afraid. I have a bad habit of dropping my current project if something new and shiny starts pestering me. Of course, I always have the full intention to go back to it later, but one shiny thing tends to lead to another and another and another… However, I did make my way back to my current WIP (second in a series) after taking a break for a Christmas collection that didn’t want to let me go, so maybe I’m making progress?
We can hope so. Though I do know it can be hard not to get distracted again. If the weather is nice enough, do you ever write outside? If so, where? If not, why not?
Very rarely, and mostly because of allergies. 😛 Back before I became allergic to so much, I used to daydream about writing outside, but when I tried to do it, I found that I got too distracted, and my outside “writing sessions” rarely ended up with a word on the page. So maybe it’s for the best that I can’t do it anymore. 😉
I can totally sympathize with the dream of writing outside. I get too distracted as well. What is the biggest distraction for you when you are writing? Social Media? Goodreads? Family members? Dreaming of chocolate? That book that you want to read? Your mind wandering to who-knows-where? Something else?
If family happens to be around, then yes… Like with the outdoors issue, I keep believing I’ll actually be able to work on a story while they’re playing a game or something, but inevitably, I get caught up in the atmosphere and fail to write anything. But for my normal writing time, it’s generally all the odds and ends of things to do that pop up the minute I have free time and a computer in hand. Dealing with emails or conversations with friends or book reviews I need to write–or sometimes it’s the book I was listening to that always seems to be at its most intense just when I finally get time to write! XD
Distractions can be hard! What book have you read recently that made you just read another page?
The Colour Blue by Katja Labonté! It was a beta read, but I started it before bed one night, and before I knew it, it was after midnight, and I still didn’t want to put it down. (I did make myself sleep, by the way.) But I was back at it the minute I got a chance the next morning!
Wow! That must be good. I’m glad you were able to get some sleep though. Any last things you want to share before you leave?
If there’s a story God’s given you, don’t worry if it’s not the kind of thing you think people are looking for, or if the “experts” say it won’t sell, or if you have trouble squeezing it into an identified genre. God has given you that story for a reason, and if you trust Him with it, He’ll bring it to the people who need it and will be blessed by it. <3

Thank you so much for coming over and sharing today, Angie! I’m looking forward to reading more of your stories.
Have you read any of Angie’s stories? If so, do you have a favorite? Would you like to read more interviews with authors? If so, is there an author you’d enjoy reading about?
