Welcome to the Literary Lodge! I’m so glad you could join us in the Five Fall Favorites party.

Come on inside! Isn’t it a lovely morning? The air is crisp and chilly, but the sun is shining so it will probably warm up later. If you’ve been here before, you know all about the party and everything, if you are new, welcome and I hope you enjoy it! There are so many places to explore around here. Feel free to take one of the bikes and go for a spin along the leaf covered trails in the woods. You might end up at the barn or the orchard where you will find bushels of apples. If you’d rather go hiking, there are backpacks you can use to carry your books around in. And if you get tired, there are benches here and there where you can sit an enjoy a book. Take a row in one of the boats if you wish, and make sure you enjoy some time by the bonfire if you get chilled, or grab one of the blankets that are stacked on the porch. And of course there is hot chocolate, apple cider, and other things in the kitchen if you want any.
Just so you know how this works, I’ll be sharing my Top 5 books in the day’s genre, and right below that, I’ll have the links to all the other rooms, I mean blogs. Make sure you check them all out and find the Books room because they will be offering a FREE short story! And then, below the party rooms, is the giveaway. You won’t want to miss that!
Adventure

There are so many books that qualify as “adventure” and it was hard to decide which ones to pick. I probably would have picked some different ones, but they had already been used other years in other genres. But don’t worry, I still really like these.

Mountain of Fire by Paul Thomsen
A very exciting story about Mount St. Helens eruption and the rescue events that took place.

Snow Treasure by Marie McSwigan
I love it when fictional stories are based on real events and people like this story is. This story takes place in Norway during World War Two when a large amount of gold had to be smuggled from the country.

When the Dikes Broke by Alta Halverson Seymour
What would you do if you lived in Holland and the dikes broke? Read this story and fine out what different people did do.

Silent Wings by Robert Sidney Bowen
If you like mysteries, excitement, flying, and danger, check out this book.
Note: There are some euphemisms used.

Jim Forest Series by John F. Rambeau
I don’t know how many times I’ve read this story to my nephews until they were old enough to read it and the rest of the series for themselves. Fun mysteries and adventures that are exciting but not too scary for younger readers. And there are some funny moments too.
Are you ready to visit all the other Party Rooms–er, blogs? Have fun and don’t forget to leave comments, add books to your TBR list and enter the giveaway! Oh, and these will open in a new tab, so don’t worry, you won’t get lost in the acres of land around the Literary Lodge.

Yay! The party has begun. The first two books especially sound interesting! Thanks for sharing!
Yes! It’s finally started.
Hope you get to read them sometime.
I’m so excited it’s started!!! Those books look so interesting. I’ve heard of Snow Treasure before… I want to read it even more now!!!
Can’t wait for tomorrow’s posts!! <3
Thanks for joining the fun, Lydia! You should read Snow Treasure.
All the posts this year are so much fun!
I read Snow Treasure a couple times when I was younger. It was a really good book!
Oh, fun.
Hopefully you can find some other books that you haven’t read to add to your TBR stack.
Oooo, great books! I love Snow Treasure!! Silent Wings looks particularly interesting
I’ve read the first two! Very fun list.
Thanks.
The first two are more common.
It seems so! I’ve also read Stand By, Boys! which a few other comments have mentioned – When the Dykes Broke sounds like it needs to go on my TBR!
Yes.
I found Stand By, Boys! and it looks like it is probably about the same event, but they are totally different stories and situations.
I don’t think I’ve read any of them, but I think “When the Dykes Broke” is a similar/the same story as “Stand By, Boys” which I did read many years ago. Thanks for sharing, Rebekah!
You’re welcome, Courtenay!
It’s not the same story, but I haven’t read “Stand By, Boys” for a long time so I can’t remember how similar they are. (Now I want to find out.)
That time of year again!

Yep. Time to grow your TBR list for winter.
I haven’t read any of these. Is there any reason why Ryana’s post hasn’t come out yet?
Oh, then you have some books to add to your TBR list.
We’re trying to find that out. I’m guessing she forgot the party started today or has had technical difficulties. Hopefully it will be up soon.
Yes, I will! When the book list comes out this weekend, I’ll be adding many books to my booklist!
Oh, okay.
Ryana’s post is up!
What a great round-up of books, thank you for sharing!
You’re welcome! Thanks for joining the fun, Kylie!
Snow Treasure is lovely! Haven’t read any of the other books, but Silent Wings looks very interesting!
I always love this party!!
Snow Treasure is such a good book!
It seems that Snow Treasure is quite popular.

Glad you enjoy this party, Rebekah!
I read another book about the dikes in Holland braking. It’s called Stand by, Boys! by K. Norel
Courtenay mentioned that one, and now I want to go see if it’s anything like When the Dikes Broke.
*squeals* The party has officially begun!! *throws maple leaves like confetti*
I can’t believe I haven’t read ANY of these books–Mountain of Fire and Snow Treasure sound really interesting!!
If you want to borrow them sometime, just let me know.
*dances in falling maple leaves*
Looks like some good books!! l LOVE Five fall favorites so super excited for the rest of the week! Thanks for hosting this!!
You’re welcome, Ruthann! Thanks for coming and I’m so glad you enjoy this party.
Love Snow Treasure! Happy first day of the party! Can’t wait to check out the other blogs.

Another win for Snow Treasure!
Thanks for coming, Kate, and I hope you find a lot of books to add to your TBR shelf.
These books were all new to me. They sound really interesting!
Yay for new books!
So fun that it’s FFF time again! I haven’t read any of these books but I did read another book about the dykes in Holland breaking . . . I think it was called, “Stand By, Boys!” Definitely an exciting period of history!
Many people have mentioned that book, and I pulled it off our shelf and in comparing the books, it looks like they are about the same event, but totally different.
Eeeek, FFF is finally here!!! I haven’t yet had the pleasure of reading any of these books, thanks for sharing! <3
I know!!!!! It’s here! Look out TBR shelves, you’re about to be stuffed.

My pleasure!
Yay for Five Fall Favorites! Snow Treasure is one of my favorite books of all time.
CutePolarBear
And another vote for Snow Treasure.
This is such a fun idea! It puts me in the mood for Fall!
Yay! Getting someone in the mood for fall is a bonus.
I haven’t read any of these but I do enjoy how each one is a vintage read, like the Hardy Boys, Nancy Drew, Silver Chief, and others. This is great. I’ve added the first three to my list.
I enjoy the original Hardy Boys and love the Silver Chief books.
Great! Glad to offer some new titles.
