Author Interview: Ivy Rose

July 31, 2018 by readanotherpage 4 Comments

Welcome to another 5th Tuesday and an interview with author Ivy Rose! Ivy is the author of Left to Die and The Old River Road.

Welcome to Read Another Page, Ivy. I’m glad you could join me today. Let’s sit down and get started shall we?

First off, could you tell my readers just a little bit about yourself?

Of course! I’m Ivy, and I’m passionate about loving people, writing stories, and encouraging others to be their best. Two of my books have been independently published and I’m currently pursuing traditional publishing for a new book. I live in the Pacific Northwest and love everything this area has to offer for outdoorsy activities, from gardening to hunting to snow skiing. I have a day job as an office manager and medical assistant for a Skin Care Clinic, and am doing college online. My favorite thing to do on the weekends is to go squaredancing, and I’m hoping to rope a brother or two into learning swing dancing with me this year.

As a writer, if you had the chance to go and spend two weeks anywhere in the world, where would you go? And why?

I would love to spend two weeks somewhere tropical—don’t even care where. 😂 I love oceans, water, swimming, and being warm!!!! This northern climate I live in is just too chilly for my liking! I think a lot of inspiration would come from being somewhere so completely different than where I live.

Oh, I’m sure you would get inspiration. That sounds like fun. When you hear the word “July” what things come to mind?

My birthday!!!! So selfish, but yes. July is my birthday month, and my birthday also falls on my parent’s anniversary which is pretty special. Also, July means camping, music camp, friends, swimming… *sigh* I love summertime.

Happy late birthday! That is special to share your birthday with your parents’ anniversary. I’m sure you have many ideas for stories. Have you ever had to deal with which story to work on first? How do you handle that situation?

Definitely!!! It’s a hard thing to deal with. The first thing I do is pray and ask for the Lord’s guidance. Secondly, I evaluate what books needs to be written. Sometimes I have a deadline, sometimes I need to get a sequel written so it can be published…it depends.

Those are all great ways of solving that troublesome situation. Now, since it is July, well the end of it, and the weather for most parts of the country are quite warm, do you ever write outside? If so, where? If not, why not?

I don’t write outside. Too many “squirrels”! 😂 I get distracted easily enough with the things inside my house, so adding the distractions of outside like bugs, my hair blowing in my face, the glare off my screen…and the fact that I live in one of the most beautiful places…I stay inside to write.

I can totally relate! I tried writing outside once. Nope. It sounds good in theory but doesn’t work in reality for me either. What is the biggest distraction for you when you are writing? Social Media? Goodreads? Family members? Dreaming of chocolate? That book that you want to read? Your mind wandering to who-knows-where? Something else?

Social Media is definitely my biggest distraction, and something I’m actively working on curbing. Secondly, by mind wandering. I probably have ADD and should really figure out how to deal with it better…but, ya know…that’s low on the priority list.

Ah, yes, that wandering mind. And one last question. What book have you read recently that made you just read another page?

The most recent one is Unbreakable by Sara Ella!

Any last thing you want to share, Ivy, before you leave?

Ride the waves of life, wherever they take you. ☺️ Thanks so much for having me!

Thanks so much for joining us today, Ivy. *offers box of chocolates* I’m looking forward to reading more of your stories!

You can find Ivy on her website Lakeside Publication. And don’t forget to check out her books if you haven’t already read them.

Ohh, is Ivy publishing another book? Her first one, the Old River Road was great! I liked the simplicity and charm of the story. Clara was my favorite person! I could relate to her uncontrollable hair. 🙂

Thank’s for hosting this interview Rebekah!

I know she has a few in the works, but nothing new right now. Have you read her “Left to Die” book?
And yes, “The Old River Road” was really good. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.
