We’re on books 5 and 6. Christmas is getting closer. Are you getting excited? Are you preparing for some special Christmas program, or concert? Perhaps a play? Or are you just going to enjoy hanging out this Christmas? But let’s forget about that and enjoy today’s books.
About the Books
At the Christmas Lodge
When Desirae Richey agrees to go home with some college friends for Christmas, she expects a small family gathering. Instead she is taken to the Christmas Lodge in the snowy mountains of Canada to a noisy, fun loving, adventurous group of family and friends who welcome her as one of their own. Everything seems to be going as planned until an unexpected snowfall occurs.
I knew this was a good story when my dad (who isn’t much of a reader) read it and said, “That was good.” It holds a lot of dreams of things I would love to do. It is also set in Canada where my best friend now lives. When I wrote it, I became one of the characters, feeling with them the cold of the snow, the warmth of the fire, the wonder of a winter night.
Des plunged into the glittering white mass and laughed with pure joy. This was snow! ~ At the Christmas Lodge
A Christmas Disaster
As the students of Coolidge High School prepare for their annual Christmas play, excitement mounts. Performed at the local theater, the play, with the students in complete charge of, the performances has become a tradition in town. Everything is going well until the morning of the final performance when calamity hits. Should the students cancel the final performance or try to turn the disaster into something good?
While not my favorite of my Christmas stories, I did have fun writing it. A friend had given me a picture and said, “I think there’s a story here, but I don’t know what.” So I set out to find it. It turned out completely different than I had expected it to. And what was going to happen when disaster hit? I didn’t know.
“Whew!” Derek sighed. “There’s no way I want to be an actor now! It’s hard enough running backstage.” ~ A Christmas Disaster
