Here is another question, or rather two questions combined from two individuals.
What part of history is your favorite to read/write about?
That is a good question. I should have made this post before Sunday because I was asked that same question at church. The truth is, I’m not sure. I think I’ve only written one short story before the Civil War. Most of them end up being later on. I think perhaps my favorite would be somewhere between the 1870s and the 1950s. I know, that wasn’t quite as specific as you would like, but really, I don’t know.
As far as reading goes, just about any era in American history is fair game. I have read so much about the Civil War though, that I’m rather tired of it. Many modern stories are just okay. I like a bit of the old-fashioned values and way of life. I prefer my heroes to be manly and to stand up for what is right. And I prefer my lady characters to be women and not want to act like men all the time. (I don’t mind some “tomboyness” as I was rather one myself.) I want them clean, moral and well written.
What about you? Do you have a favorite era to read or write about?
